Rainbows and Rd Trips

3 days in Sydney were knocked over and after seeing a few friends and family and getting a taste for the ‘real life’ again, we were gladly heading back to the adventuring we’ve come accustomed to. Its not that we don’t like our home, your great, but this life is just different you know, addictive.

The crew rocked some serious style for the trip back up to the Gold Coast (as seen left) and were close to being arrested for their criminally good looks. Making it back with only a warning we had activities to catch up on. Deckhand Chaney has brought the third wheel to this tricycle of fun and since joining us has not disappointed in enthusiasm and stoke.

Friday night saw an exploration of Surfers Paradise til the late hours of Saturday. Besides being hilariously weird and awkward it was not to be the highlight it might suggest itself to be. When travelling it is always the hidden gems (or rainbows) that will last in the mind and our Saturday night delivered a huge rainbow. The Babe Rainbows. This local band from Rainbow Bay put on an unreal intimate psychedelic surf rock gig at the Miami Shark Bar and had the whole place grooving dirty. It was packed with a truly individual local crowd and cemented our needs to explore the southern end of the Gold Coast asap.

Luck was on our side. After having our friend Linda on the boat that Saturday afternoon she suggested we stay at hers in Burleigh Heads if we wanted to explore the Southern Gold Coast. We didn’t hesitate on Sunday after the rainbows and jumped on the bus to kindly accept. Bright and early Monday we were in to it and here’s how we went (in order of visitation/North to South): Burleigh Heads, Currumbin, Coolangatta, Snapper Rocks, Dbah, highway….. Byron Bay, Coorabell (My friend Kris’ house). Then back to Coolangatta and finally Burleigh Heads. Not one moment of that day was average. These places are all cool, interesting, and naturally beautiful (humans and nature). Thanks Linda!!

Tomorrow is Friday and it will be the end of our 18 day time in this golden coast. We will up ropes and motor on. It has been a grand stay we are thankful to friends an family who we’ve caught up with here. We’re headed first for Manly, Brisbane then who knows, somewhere north of that we think.

Take it easy. Love from us.
